The Visual Research Network announce a call for papers, mixed media presentations and residency participants for 2nd International Residency Conference:<\/p>\n
THE REPRESENTED, THE AESTHETIC AND THE HUMAN through VISUAL CREATIVE PRACTICE.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Residency:<\/span><\/b>\u00a029th August to 3rd September in the Peak District\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Conference:<\/span><\/b>\u00a05th and 6th September 2019 at the Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology, University of Manchester<\/span><\/p>\n The organizers invite theoretical, experimental, sensorial, and methodological contributions that cover themes including, but not limited to:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n – Individual expressions of perception, emotion, and identity\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n – Cultural representations, memories, imaginings, and visions\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n – Sociospatial encounters and understandings between different people and places\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n – The politics and ethics of representation in visual research\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n – The dynamic power relations at play in the construction and dissemination of images<\/span><\/p>\n Film, photography, performance, cartoons, sound, drawings, and any other sensory materials produced through critical, creative or reflexive processes in practice-as-research or ethnography are welcome.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Criteria<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n The residency conference is open to social researchers with strong audio-visual projects.<\/span><\/p>\n Residency: 1) participants will present audio-visual projects that are work-in-progress; 2) participants will have concrete plans for developing these projects during the residency; 3) participants will be ready to collaborate with other attendees in an innovative and creative, yet professional and technically proficient manner, to create a collective project to be exhibited during the conference.<\/span><\/p>\n Conference: 1) participants will present finished work relevant to the conference topic; 2) the presentation will be centred around a strong audio-visual component.<\/span><\/p>\n Submission<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n Please submit your abstracts for the residency and\/or conference at\u00a0www.visualresearchnetwork.co.uk<\/a>\u00a0by\u00a015th<\/sup><\/b>\u00a0June 2019<\/b>.
